KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 30 people have been killed and heavy losses caused by in flash floods in Herat and Ghor provinces, local officials say.
Rain-induced hit Adraskan and Obe districts of the province, the governor’s spokesman Jilani Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News on Tuesday.
A dozen individuals lost their lives to the flooding in Adraskan, he said, adding 10 others were killed in Obe.
Two more people were killed in the Sheen Dand district of the province. Those killed in the three districts included four children, a woman and five men.
The official said the floods damaged crops on dozens of hectares of land besides washing away a number of cattle heads.
The seasonal floods also resulted In human and material losses in neighbouring Ghor province, the governor’s office said in a statement.
At least seven people were reported dead in Ghor, where several houses and crops on 650 hectares of land were damaged.
Hundreds of people were displaced by the floods, which swept away 210 domestic animals, according to the governor’s house.
