300 Samangan families to find access to potable water

AIBAK (Pajhwok): Construction work on a clean water supply network has been inaugurated in northern Samangan province, benefitting 300 families, an official said on Thursday.

AbdulaqinAhmadi, the administrative chief for Dara-e-Suf district, said the water supply network would cost 2.2 million afghanis with funding from the Swedish committee in TangiYaqub village and take six months to complete.

Residents said they were happy with the start of construction work on the water supply scheme.

Haji Ibrahim, a resident, said that people still used natural stream water and in summers, the stream water would dry up and people would have a hard time.

He said completion of the water supply network would help people find access to safe drinking water.
