KABUL (Pajhwok): The Association of Private Educational Centers on Sunday demanded permission to operate their educational and training centers and said these centers would implement health recommendations.
Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday closed all educational centers in 16 provinces including the capital Kabul for two weeks in order to prevent spread of the Covid-19.
Ahmad MukhtarFrotan, the secretary of the association, in a press conference along with deans of some private Universities in Kabul called the MoPH’s decision as unjust.
He complained larger gatherings than education institutions took place in wedding halls, crowds in government offices such as the Electronic ID distribution centers but they did not consider health guidelines.
Frotan said Educational centers should not be closed because they followed health guidelines to prevent spread of the Coronavirus.
Sanjar Khalid, general secretary of the association, stressed the MoPH should not close educational centers, adding that they promise the MoPH that the students would wear masks, follow social distance and sanitize their hands and study.
The association’s chief executive, NasimKhanSahil, said the closure of private education centers would hurt both investors and the students.
Sahil warned if the MoPH did not reconsider its decision then the union would launch protests including in front of the Presidential Palace.
