HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Fifteen security personnel, including a district police chief, have been killed and wounded during a clash with militants in western Herat province, an official said on Friday.
Governor Syed Abdul Wahid Qatali told Pajhwok Afghan News a security checkpoint collapsed as a result of the fighting, which caused the Taliban militants 29 casualties.
With the rebels yet to comment, a civil society activist said Farsi district police chief Syed Shafiq Jahid was killed along with eight other security personnel. The district’s administrative chief was wounded along with two guards.
