KABUL (Pajhwok): Taliban insurgents carried out 1,455 attacks since the start of foreign troops’ withdrawal process from Afghanistan, the National Security Council (NSC) said on Saturday.
NSC spokesman RahmatullahAndar in a video clip told the media that the attacks included armed and guerilla attacks.
He added that Taliban also suffered heavy casualties in government retaliatory attacks and security forces were able to thwart 63 such attacks and blasts.
“After the US-Taliban peace pact in Doha, the Taliban intensified clashes in Afghanistan instead of concentrating on intra-Afghan peace talks,” the spokesman added.
He said the Taliban did not care about Afghans or Afghan facilities and not even the lives of their own fighters. The movement has conducted 1,455 attacks throughout the country with the start of the withdrawal process of foreign troops from Afghanistan.
Foreign troops’ withdrawal process started on May 01, 2021 and is anticipated to complete in September of current year.
The US Department of Defense has said that 30-42 per cent of US soldiers have been evacuated from Afghanistan so far.
It occurs while two district police chiefs have been killed and Taliban have captured two other districts of Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.
Afghan Ministry of Defense has reported killing 181 Taliban insurgents in different provinces in the past 24 hours.
