Casualties as car bomb hits Balkh district building

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A car-bomb was detonated in front of the Balkh district building in northern Balkh province on Sunday, causing a number of casualties.

Balkh police spokesman, AdilShahAdil confirmed the blast but said they would provide casualty details later.

Eye witnesses say the car-bomb was detonated near the Balkh district building at around 1pm on Sunday and they could hear gunshots being fired.

Security sources said so far 15 casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the blast.
