CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Dozens of residents of Jabal Saraj district of central Parwan province on Sunday staged a protest against the killing of a young man by a local commander, closing the Kabul-North highway for traffic.
Angry protesters accused NurAhmadSikandar, a local commander, of killing a young man in the district. They claimed the commander was linked with AbdullahAbdullah, chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), and set afire pictures of Dr. Abdullah.
The brother of the deceased, Obaidullah, claimed NurAhmad had so far killed 28 residents of Jabal Saraj district.
“We want Justice from the district, provincial and central governments and if they cannot provide justice then they should kill us as well,” he added.
The protesters were carrying the body of the young boy and warned if they were not listened to, then they would carry the body to capital Kabul.
A protester, NazirAqa, told Pajhwok that NurAhmadSikandari along with his bodyguards killed his cousin.
But NurAhmad told Pajhwok Afghan News that Farhad, the slain young boy, was trying to kill him and that his bodyguards shot him dead when he fired at him and his bodyguards.
Meanwhile, Parwan police said they had arrested the perpetrators of the murder and also besieged the house of NurAhmadSikandari on Saturday night.
However, local residents claimed the young boy and the commander’s men engaged in a gunfight in Manara area of Jabal Saraj district on Saturday night.
NurAhmadSikandari is a local commander linked with Hizb-i-Jamiat-i-Islami and is also serving as advisor to HCNR.
