KABUL (Pajhwok): The Presidential Palace’s Office of Administrative Affairs on Tuesday said a National Consensus High Council (NCHC) would be formed under the leadership of President Ashraf Ghani soon.

Mahboob Shah Mahboob, cultural affairs head of the administrative affairs office, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the council would have 70 members who would be selected form the consultative Loya Jirga.

He added the council would advise President Ashraf Ghani on various issues, especially peace. According to him, they would present a clear roadmap to the president on peace.

Mahboob said the membership would include prominent political leaders, expatriate and domestic experts, representatives of private sector, civil society, women and representative from 28 other walks of life from the across the country.

The NCHC would also work for national consensus across the country, the official added.
