Hekmatyar tested positive for coronavirus unproven claim

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some social media activists claimed on Tuesday that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, head of the Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) tested positive for coronavirus and his health condition is unstable.

Propaganda:

Syed Nazim Khelwati, a facebook user, wrote that HIA Leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar tested positive for coronavirus and he is in bad condition.

“According to reports Hekmatyar’s coronavirus test result is positive and he is in unstable condition,” he said.

A facebook page Sarhad News also reported that HIA Leader Hekmatyar tested positive for coronavirus. “Pray that this bereaved nation gets comfort and development.”

Fact Check:

Hekmatyar’s son Habiburrahman Hekmatyar said his father was doing well and has not health issue.

“The news that Hekmatyar’s tested positive for coronavirus is wrong and baseless. Meshar (Hekmatyar) is doing well and he is fine,” he wrote on his facebook page.

It is worth mentioning that so far over 94,000 people suffered from coronavirus in Afghanistan and over 3,700 have died.
