JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Six children were injured as an unexploded mortar shell they were playing with went off in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday.
Officials said the children less than 9 years old were playing when the mortar shell exploded.
A spokesman for the governor, Ataullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened in Papin area of Haska Mina district on Tuesday morning.
He said six children under the age of 9 years from three families were injured in the blast.
According to him, the injured children were transferred to a local health center for treatment.
