KABUL (Pajhwok): Initial filling of Shah-wa-Aroos dam in Shakardara district of Kabul province begun on Tuesday before it is put into service in a few weeks, officials said on Wednesday.
Kabul governor’s house, in a statement, said officials of National Water Affairs Regulation Authority (NWARA), Ministry of Urban Development and Land (MUDL) and Kabul Administration inaugurated the initial filling process of the dam on Tuesday.
The source said that the dam has the capacity to produce 1.2 megawatts of electricity and irrigating 2,700 hectares of agricultural land.
