KABUL(Pajhwok): The Taliban on Sunday claimed overrunning five more districts in four provinces, but government officials denied their claims.
The rebels claimed they captured Chak and Saidabad in central MaidanWardak province, FerozNakhchir district in northern Samangan, Rustaq in northern Takhar and Shortepa in northern Balkh but government sources said the Taliban had lost control of Rustaq and FerozNakhchir districts.
Taliban spokesman ZabihullahMujahid said the Taliban were in control of Chak district.
He said the district's intelligence chief had been killed and 39 governament forces had been captured alive by Taliban fighters.
