KABUL (Pajhwok): Hours after American forces departed their largest military base in Afghanistan, robbers entered the Bagram Airfield in central Parwan province.
In an interview, Bagram’s administrative head blamed the US troops for leaving the base without prior coordination with Afghan security forces.
The Associated Press quoted Darwaish Raufi as saying the airfield’s gates were not secured, helping thieves to enter the base before the local security personnel took charge of the airfield.
The official remarked: “Unfortunately the Americans left without any coordination with Bagram district officials or the governor’s office.
Raufi told the US media outlet the robbers were stopped and some of them detained while the rest fled the base.
Before being detained, the pillagers raided several buildings. The official, however, explained: “Right now Afghan security forces are in control both inside and outside of the base.”
