KABUL (Pajhwok): American forces have completed more than 90 percent of their withdrawal from Afghanistan, says US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The US troops have officially handed over seven military facilities to the Afghan Ministry of Defence, CENTCOM said in a statement on Tuesday.
With US forces exiting Afghanistan, the Taliban have made significant territorial gains in recent weeks and snatched US-made weapons from Afghan forces.
On Tuesday, a Taliban commander claimed the fighters had seized 70 sniper rifles; 900 guns; 30 Humvees; 20 pickup trucks and 15 articulated military trucks.
President Joe Biden has set the September 11 deadline for the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. However, the process is set to be completed within days.
