GARDIZ (Pajhwok): Local officials say that the police chief of fifth police district of Gardiz city, the capital of southeatern Paktia province has been killed during a clash with the Taliban.
Provincial police spokesman, Hayatullah Nizami told Pajhwok Afghan News that Major Wali Khan Himmat was killed during a face to face fight with the Taliban militants on Tuesday night.
“The Taliban had stormed a security post and the police chief went there to support security personnel under attack, but Himmat who was a brave youth killed during the fight,” he said.
