KABUL (Pajhwok): The national security advisor says the Afghan forces, who recently retreated across the border into Tajikistan, are being brought home.
Hamdullah Mohib said on Tuesday around 2,300 who deserted their posts as a result of Taliban attacks in different parts of the country had reported back for duty.
Over the past few days, fierce fighting in northern Afghanistan forced hundreds of Afghan National Army (ANA) troops fled to the neighbouring country.
Mohib said: “Those who crossed into Tajikistan are coming back to be in the service of the people and in the defence of Faizabad (capital of Badakhshan).”
However, the security advisor stopped short of saying when or how the fleeing security personnel would be brought home to rejoin the war against the Taliban.
