CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Government sources on Saturday confirmed the fall of the centers of Sorkh Parsa and Sheikh Ali districts of central Parwan province into the hands of Taliban militants.
The sources said both the districts fell to the Taliban on Saturday. The Taliban also said they had overrun the two towns.
Rezadad Nazari, Sheikh Ali district chief, said the rebels captured the district’s center after a heavy fighting on three sides of the district building.
A resident of Dara-e-Sorkh area of Sorkh Parsa district, who did not want to be named, said that there were 15 policemen in Sarakh Parsa districts who had left the district before the Taliban arrived.
He added that a commander of an illegal armed group seized equipment before the Taliban entered the district building.
