1 civilian killed, 5 wounded in Kapisa raids

MAHMUDRAQI (Pajhwok): Six civilians have been killed and wounded and that a school building destroyed in central Kapisa province, local sources said on Wednesday.

The school was destroyed during a security operation in Tagab district. But police said dozens of Taliban were killed and wounded in the operation.

A resident of Badrab village, who declined to be named, said government forces conducted airstrikes in different parts of Tagab for two nights in a row.

He said a civilian was killed and a woman and her two children were wounded in raids in Burjian village. Two men were also injured in Gadakhel and Almaskhel villages.

The source added that no Taliban fighters were wounded or killed in the air raids.

Police spokesman Abdul Shayeq Shourish denied the allegation of civilian casualties during the operation in Tagab.

He said without elaborating that about 40 Taliban insurgents had been killed and wounded in the operations.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said a 01 Unit operation in Tagab destroyed a madrasa and three houses, killing five civilians and wounding 10 others.

He said government forces had also taken a school student with them.
