KABUL (Pajhwok): A senior official on Wednesday accused the Taliban of attacking the Salma Dam in western Herat province, but the militants rejected the claim as false.
On his Facebook page, Water Management Authority Director Khan Mohammad Takal wrote: “Several mortar shells and rockets fired at the Salma Dam since Tuesday.”
The huge water reservoir has been built by India in the Chest-i-Sharif district of the province.
“We want the Taliban to immediately stop attacks on the dam site because it is a national asset and it is a shared property,” the official said.
