HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Provincial government in northwestern Badghis province and the Taliban have reached ceasefire with the Taliban with the help of local elders and tribal people, an official said on Thursday.
Governor Hassamuddin Shamsh told Pajhwok Afghan News 10 elders took responsibility for negotiating ceasefire. They first talked to the Taliban and reached an understanding on ceasefire; they then talked with provincial administration and reached similar understanding.
He said the Taliban agreed to vacate the areas in the vicinity of Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital during ceasefire which declared on Thursday.
