KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and the World Bank (WB) Vice President for South Asia have discussed transparency in economic and security sectors.
Ghani held a video conference with WB’s VP for South Asia Hartwig Schafer on Wednesday evening, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
Ghani highlighted the government’s priorities in various sectors, as well as transparency in economic and security sectors, the statement said.
He briefed the WB official on the effects of the drought, the state of the National Food Package Programme and hospitals’ focus on providing better health services.
He suggested allocations for some projects should be diverted to the schemes that could be implemented quickly.
Schafer said coordination among the government, WB and the International Monetary Fund had been effective. He stressed the importance of the joint JCMB meeting, scheduled to take place this month.
He went on to underline the importance of health programmes, suggesting contracts in this regard should continue.
