HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A number of residents and officials of western Herat province donated blood to Afghan security forces during a campaign on Sunday.
Herat people said that the aim of the blood donation campaign was to support Afghan security forces.
They said that Afghan forces were sacrificing their lives for the defence of the country and Afghans should donate blood to wounded Afghan troops to save their lives.
Khalil Ahmad, a resident of Herat province, talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, said, “We participated in a blood donation campaign to help wounded Afghan forces and announce our support for them.”
Fazl Ahmad, another dweller of Herat, said, “Blood donation is a way of support to Afghan security forces and the best support is to donate a few drops of your blood to them in the current situation.”
Herat governor, Abdul SaboorQanay, thanked Herat people for their support to Afghan forces and said that help of this type was very important to keep Afghan forces in high morale for defending their country.
Meanwhile, Herat Blood Bank officials say that 50,000cc blood was donated during the campaign. He said that a portion of the blood would be donated to wounded Afghan security forces.
