KABUL (Pajhwok): Jihadi, political leaders and ulema have once again declared their support for security forces besides stressing on peace and reconciliation, President Ashraf Ghani said on Saturday.
On his Facebook page the president wrote: “Today a meeting under the republic umbrella was held with the country’s jihadi, political leaders, civil society activists, women and ulema.”
He said in one voice they announced their support for security forces. Top security brass of the country was present in the meeting.
At the meantime, the president said all participants stressed on peace and renewed their commitment that defending themselves was their right.
Separately, a statement from the Presidential Palace said that a consultative meeting on peace and reconciliation was held with elders, political and jihadi leaders.
During the meeting, it was stressed that ending the ongoing war and ensuring durable peace was the top priority of the republican side.
