KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday said that government officials who did not register their assets would be barred from traveling abroad.
Firoz Bashari, spokesman of the commission, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 37,000 government officials are eligible to be registered and so far 18,000 people admitted their forms of assets and 15,000 of those entered to the system. while 400 others rejected.
He said that 2,211 officials had not yet registered their assets and that was the reason their privileges had been suspended.
However, Bashari said that 1,206 officials had recently registered their assets and their privileges were granted following efforts by ACC. Currently 1,005 officials have been refusing to register their assets, he said.
He asked all government officials to register their assets according to the law otherwise their privileges would be suspended.
The commission said that those refusing to register their assets would also be banned from traveling abroad.
Bashari asked civil society institutes to support the commission so all the people could participate in the fight against corruption and corrupt figures.
