GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Three civilians were killed and 20 others injured when a mortar shell hit a crowd of people in this capital city of southern Ghazni province on Tuesday, officials said.
The mortar shell hit the crowd in Qala-e-Sabz area of Ghazni city.
Provincial civil hospital chief Dr. Baz Mohammad Himmat told Pajhwok Afghan News three dead bodies and 20 injured people had been transferred to the hospital and all of them were civilians.
An eyewitness, Rahimullah said, that Qala-e-Sabz was the busiest area in Ghazni city and it was noon when a mortar shell hit a crowd of people, killing and injuring many people.
The Taliban insurgents, who control 16 out of 18 districts of Ghazni province, have launched a series of attacks in Ghazni city.
The officials and the Taliban insurgent have not yet commented in about the mortar shell attack.
