FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Taliban insurgents have staged attacks from several directions on the capital of western Farah province where fierce clashes are underway.
Residents, giving eyewitness accounts, told Pajhwok Afghan News both sides were using light and heavy weapons.
One eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said: "The Taliban entered Farah City last night. Later, they attacked checkpoints. These areas are now the scene of intense fighting."
But police spokesman Farooq Hazrati claimed militant attacks had been repulsed and the bodies of eight insurgents were lying in Haidar Qali village.
He said the security forces suffered no casualties . . .
