KABUL (Pajhwok): Special envoys of several countries on Tuesday met in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to discuss the Afghanistan peace process, an official said.

The meeting began with an opening speech by Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, said Faridoon Khwazoon, spokesman for the Afghan National High Peace Council.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News that a delegation from Afghanistan led by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the National High Reconciliation Council and including Minister of State for Peace and Reconciliation Syed Mansoor Naderi, was attending the meeting.

He said the meeting would focus on peace in Afghanistan and the Afghan delegation would present its message.

He said  a special meeting of the 'extended troika' would be held on the second day tomorrow, which would be attended by special envoys from Pakistan, China, Russia and the United States and Afghanistan.

Khwazoon said a meeting of regional representatives would be held on the third day to discuss Afghan peace. The meetings were expected to focus on preventing war and violence and speeding up peace talks.
