KABUL (Pajhwok): US relations with any government in Afghanistan are linked to its actions, says Department of State.
Department spokesperson Ned Price said the US and its allies would be “watching closely” the situation in Afghanistan.
Price’s statement comes after the Taliban took control of the capital Kabul on Sunday.
He said the US would recognise a future Afghan government that upheld the basic rights of its people, did harbour terrorists that protected the fundamental rights of women and girls.
Meanwhile, a senior Taliban official told Reuters that talk about a new government was premature.
