KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of school and university students expressed concern over the closure of educational institutes while the officials of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan say that the educational centers would reopen in the near future.
A day earlier, Education Commission of the Islamic Emirate announced that primary schools from first to sixth grades would open on August 28 and secondary and high schools as well as other educational centers would also reopen in the near future.
School students ask the Taliban to reopen schools to resume their education.
Lima Noori, a student of 12 grade in Zarghona High School in Kabul expressec concern over prolonged closure of schools and told Pajhwok Afghan News that they could not study this year much due to coronavirus quarantine and then political changes in the government.
She asked the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to take action for reopening all schools for students.
Mujtaba Niazi, a student of eighth grade in Ama Shama High School in Khair Khana area of Kabul, said, “We could not study and a lot of our time wasted, the more our recess prolongs the more it affects us.”
He also asked for reopening of schools. Shazia Raoufi, a teacher in Sayed Jamaluddin High School in Kabul city said that she was hopeful educational centers would be reopened as soon as possible.
She said that closure of schools for a long time would cause loss of interest in students to return to their schools and pursue their education and a gap in the education process.
University students also asked for reopening of their institutes.
Jaihoon Mohammadi, a student in a private university in Kabul, told Pajhwok that the education system had faced problem since the last two years.
“No students pursue their education as they should do and no any teacher instructs as they should do since the start of coronavirus pandemic, they only take their money but do not care about students and problems,” he said.
He said that after a long recess from coronavirus quarantine, schools and universities were newly reopened last month but they closed again after the Taliban took over Kabul.
“We the young generation hope to study and get developed, we want build our country, our demand from Islamic Emirate is to work for reopening of schools and do not let our fate stay unknown,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nasir Ahmad, a student of journalism in Danish Private University also criticized closure of educational centers and said that prolonging closure of education was not on the interest of anyone.
He asked Taliban officials to take action for reopening of educational centers.
Abdul Hakim Himmat, head of Education Commission of Islamic Emirate told Pajhwok that primary schools from fist to sixth grade would be opened next week on August 28 and secondary and high schools as well as higher educational institutes would also open soon.
He said that they were consulting with advisors and instructors for creating a professional educational system so it would compete with other Asian countries.
