KABUL (Pajhwok): Taliban on Saturday said that foreing troops have partially withdrew from Hamid Karzai International Airport and their forces are now in control of some parts of the airport.
The US Defense Secretary said that around 110,000 people have so far relocated from Afghanistan through Kabul Airport in the last two weeks.
Thousands of Afghans rushed to the Kabul Airport after the Taliban took control of Kabul on August 15. The US and some other countries promised to take move Afghans who worked with them to their respected countries from the airport.
All US and other foreign forces who currently provide security for Kabul Airport would withdraw from Afghanistan on August 31.
Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News that foreign forces have withdrawn from some parts of Kabul Airport and their soldiers were now deployed there.
On the other hand, US Department of State has said that after the withdrawal of US soldiers from Afghanistan, they would provide other facilities for more flights from Kabul and there would be no need for their soldiers deployment in Kabul Airport.
Taliban earlier had warned US to withdraw from Afghanistan on the August 31 deadline.
