Foreigners’ evacuation: US hails support from Taliban  

KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has welcomed Taliban’s cooperation on the departure of Americans and others from Kabul.

In a series of tweets, Khalilzad said: “Over the last three days, over 250 foreign nationals, including dozens of US citizens and permanent residents, departed Kabul unhindered on Qatari flights. This is positive.”

Khalilzad also thanked Qatar for its help facilitating the flights. He welcomed the Taliban’s cooperation in such important effort.

“We will continue to engage the government of Qatar, the Taliban, and others to ensure the safe passage of our citizens, other foreign nationals, and Afghans that want to leave,” he added.
