FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Health officials in western Ghor province on Thursday said 91 clinics have been closed due to the non-availability of fund.

Ghor Health Department Head Mawlavi Ehsan said after the halt of World Bank fund for Afghanistan, official in charge of the contract also closed the health centres.

He added: “91 clinics which the CHA was funding have closed their clinics due to the halt f fund. When there is no budget they could not provide health service,” he said adding this also led to the unemployment of nearly 1,500 persons.

Employees want past two months salaries

One of the doctor from the Tawlak district who did not want to be named said: “Three days back the CHA head came and said there is no more fund, you have to decide if you want to work or not.”

Some residents of Ghor province said medicine are not available in the health centres of Ferozkoh and other districts, doctors are also unable to have access to all patients.

Abdullah Azeemi, the resident of Ferozkoh, said: “I brought my wife for treatment here and I afford all here medical expenses since there is no medicine in public hospital.”

Syed Faqir Shah Faqiri, in-charge of the CHA humanitarian assistance, said: “When the world Bank halt fund we also have to stop our operations because our activities are linked with fund. There are some financial issues and we don’t know that we shall pay the salaries of staff or compensate other needs.”

Faqiri hoped these problems would be soon resolved from the centre.
