KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Diaspora Unity Council (ADUC) is very concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan, the council said in a statement.

The Afghan Diaspora Unity Council (ADUC) said the international community is raising concern over the composition of Taliban’s caretaker government that was announced on September 8.

ADUC said reportedly 14 members of the Taliban cabinet were black listed with acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani being on FBI’s list carrying $10 million bounty on his head.

The new interim government consists of the group’s old guard from previous leadership of Taliban’s government with no women or representation of the country’s minority groups. The caretaker government also lacks qualified professionals, the council said.

It said the Taliban government has banned girls from returning to their schools for continuation of their high school education. The Taliban have also closed Ministry of Women’s Affairs.

The world community has considered the more than a month long ruling of Taliban unacceptable.

Afghans in and outside of Afghanistan are expressing their opposition in different ways to the ways Taliban govern the country.

As the largest non-affiliated diaspora organization, the ADUC with its broad base platform hosts more than hundred civil society, political, cultural and social organizations and associations, is very concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan.

The ADUC strived and tried to play a neutral role during the peace talks to potentially help move these talks to successful results but unfortunately the time wasn’t on our side.

Currently too, ADUC is coordinating collective efforts undertaken by the noted above civil society, political, cultural and social organizations that ADUC hosts to identify practical peaceful steps for influencing events in the direction of securing basic rights of Afghans including women’s right.

The ADUC intends to be in touch with international relevant organizations and countries sympathetic to this cause to identify areas of cooperation.
