KABUL (Pajhwok): Special envoys from Russia, China and Pakistan have called on Taliban’s interim Prime Minister Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund.

Tuesday’s meeting was part of diplomatic efforts by key regional countries for an inclusive government in Afghanistan.

The meeting comes after Akhund held talks with the Qatari foreign minister earlier in the month.

Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan said the special envoys discussed the need for a broad-based government with the Taliban leader.

He tweeted that Ambassador Sadiq Khan of Pakistan, Zamir Kabulov of Russia and Yue Xiaoyong of China called on Prime Minister Akhund.

Senior Taliban leaders also attended the meeting that discussed peace, stability and inclusive governance, the Pakistani diplomat wrote.

The special envoys also met separately former president Hamid Karzai and Afghan High Peace Council chief Dr Abdullah Abdullah.

Pakistan, Russia and China, seeking an inclusive Afghan government, have asked the US to unfreeze Afghanistan’s foreign assets.

Taliban’s Cultural Commission member Ahmadullah Muttaqi uploaded photos showing envoys from the three countries.

Muttaqi said the Taliban were represented by acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Acting Minister of Finance Hedayatullah Badri.
