KABUL (Pajhwok): The Turkish president has urged Western powers to provide assistance to Afghanistan regardless of the political structure in Kabul.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday: “The people of Afghanistan have been left alone; they were abandoned with consequences of instability…”

The Washington Examiner quoted him as saying that Afghanistan required aid and solidarity from the global fraternity irrespective of the political process.

Ahead of a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said: “We have had excellent cooperation.”

The top US diplomat said: “Thank you very much for this excellent cooperation on Afghanistan, many areas. Of course, we will continue working on Afghanistan together.”
