KABUL (Pajhwok): The evolving situation in Afghanistan has come up for discussion in Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s meetings with his French and Iranian counterparts.

The Indian minister, who arrived in New York on Monday, met his French and Iranian counterparts at the UN headquarters on Tuesday.

Set to address the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, he held talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

India Today reported the two sides held detailed discussion on Afghanistan, Indo-Pacific and other issues of common interest.

“Began the day meeting with our strategic partner France. A comprehensive discussion with FM @JY_LeDrian on Afghanistan, Indo-Pacific and other contemporary issues. India and France are solid partners in the UN Security Council,” Jaishankar tweeted.

Later in the day, he also met Iran’s Foreign Minister H Amirabdollahian on ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in different areas.

The Indian minister wrote: “Good to meet FM @Amirabdolahian of Iran again. … Reaffirmed our convergence on regional issues.”

Jaishankar will meet his counterparts from several member states and participate in the G-20 meeting that will focus on Afghanistan.

India will attend three meetings organised by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on climate, energy and food systems.
