KABUL (Pajhwok): The Pakistani cabinet has decided revoke gate pass option for Afghan visitors, saying it caused extortion and corrupt practices at the Torkham crossing.
Advisor to Prime Minister Shahzad Akbar on his twitter account wrote: “Federal cabinet took notice of complaints of illegal extortion of money from incoming Afghans on Torkham border. PM directed to do away with practice of permission letter and allow smooth entry on valid visas.”
According to reports, Pakistani government has provided special gate passes to some Afghans who wanted to flee the country and were supposed to go abroad from Pakistan.
