GARDIZ (Pajhwok): Agriculture officials in southeastern Paktia province on Monday said that they would complete all unfinished agriculture projects in the province.

They say that there are large and small size projects and organizations who responsible for the schemes would cooperate with the Agriculture Department to complete them.

Acting Paktia agriculture director, Abdul Rauf Shahidzoi, made the statements during the inauguration of projects for healthy food production and food security, in Sayed Karam district of the province today.

These projects would cost 600,000 Afghanis being provided by NHP.

Shahidzoi said that there were security problems about project implementation in the past and some organizations were not interested to work in projects for that reason. However, he said that all the problems had been resolved.

Now as security problems had been resolved, all organizations and government organs could implement any project and there will be timely evaluation of construction process, he said.

Shahidzoi said that there were many projects in Paktia which remained incomplete, but they would be resumed and completed.

All organizations and workers who worked under the framework of Agriculture Department can return to their activities and jobs, he said.

A farmer from Paktia, Habibullah said, “We are in need of a lot of assistance in the agriculture area, particularly we need improved seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.”

He said that many farmers in Paktia were creating gardens in recent years and the government and organizations’ assistance in the area would help create work opportunities for many people in the province.
