KABUL (Pajhwok): Nearly nine million children in Afghanistan suffer from diarrhea every year, mainly due to poor hygiene, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Monday.
Public Health Director Dr. Qalandar Ebad told an event marking Global Handwashing Day frequent handwashing helped prevent pandemics and curbed viruses.
He termed marking the day vital for promoting the culture of handwashing. Annually, he revealed, around nine million Afghan children suffered from diarrhea just because of ignoring the need for washing their hands.
