KABUL (Pajhwok): Journalists faced some violent incidents after the regime change on August 15, a statement from the Journalists Safety Committee (JSC) said on Monday.
Most of these violent incidents were carried out by the Islamic Emirate, the statement said, but authorities rejected the accusation.
JSC asked authorities to cooperate with the commitee in addressing violent incidents faced by journalists and enable media persons to freely conduct their activities.
Bilal Karimi, an official of the Information Ministry, said statement by JSC was one-sided and could not be confirmed.
He added such comments would pave the way for propaganda and promote an unrealistic impression.
He asked media and the JSC to adopt the spirit of cooperation and fully coordinate with the new government.
Cultural Commission Member Abdul HaqWaseeq said: “Media is free in Afghanistan and after the Taliban takeover media faced no curbs. The matter that some media outlets stopped functioning due to financial crisis does not belong to the Islamic Emirate.”
