Flour price down by 9pc in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of flour has dipped while that of fuel and gold has increased during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Zamarai Safi, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour reduced from 2,200 Afghanis to 2,000 Afghanis this week.

He said that the price of the flour was decreased following high imports from the neighboring country.

However, the price of other food items remain unchanged.

Safi said that the price of 49 kilograms of India sugar was 2,950afs, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 2,500afs, a bag of 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,400afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 350afs and the same quantity of African black tea 380afs.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul said that a bag of 49kg of Kazakhstani flour cost 2,100afs, a bag of 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,450afs, a bag of 49kg of Indian sugar 3,000afs, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 2,550afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 360afs and the same quantity of African black tea 390afs.

The price of vehicle fuel increased by more than two percent.

A worker at Hashemi Fuel Station in Taimani area of Kabul city said that the price of a liter of petrol increased from 72afs to 73afs and the same quantity of diesel from 63afs to 65afs.

However, Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kulula Pushta area of Kabul said that a kilogram of the commodity stood at 85afs.

Gold prices also increased.

Mohammad Javid, a jweller in Lycee Mariam area of Kabul city said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold was increases from 3950afs to 4,100afs and the same quantity of Russian variety from 3,250afs to 3,400afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchanger Service in Sara-i-Shahzada market of Kabul, said that one US dollar was accounted for 89afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 495afs compared to 89afs and 500afs respectively last week.
