KABUL (Pajhwok): The power utility, stressing collection of revenue, on Sunday said people who used electricity without power meters should be forced to install meters and pay their bills on time.
Da Afghanistan Bareshna Shirkat (DABS) in a statement said acting DABS chief executive officer Hafiz Mohammad Amin Farooqi through a video conference discussed revenue collection with DABS leadership delegation and directors and officials of all provinces.
In the video conference, Farooqi instructed the power officials of all provinces to pay serious attention to revenue collection.
He also directed the concerned authorities to reduce the level of power losses and stressed on making serious efforts in this regard.
Maulvi Abdul Rahman Rahmani, director of commercial affairs at Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat, also said that areas that used electricity without meters and in some areas consumers did not pay their bills in the past, should be forced to install new meters and pay their electricity bills on time.
At the same time, Maulvi Fazlur Rehman Fazli, DABS Kabul director, said that work was underway in Tarakhel, Alukhelo and other areas of Kabul to install meters for families who did not have meters before.
This comes as Pajhwok Afghan News published a report this year that more than 3,000 households in Kabul's Hotkhel district had not paid millions of afghanis in electricity bills and some were without electricity meters.
The power utility said that it had also started work on resolving the issue in Hotkhel.
