KABUL (Pajhwok): Petroleum and Mining Minister Mohammad Esa Akhund and Turkmen Ambassador to Afghanistan Hoja Ovezov have discussed matters related to the TAPI gas pipeline project.
In a statement from the Ministry of Information on Wednesday, Akhund said: “We have been trying to initiate practical work on TAPI project and get this pride.
“For the project’s security, we will talk to relevant institutions and we will give you full assurance in this regard,” the minister was quoted as saying.
Work on the multinational gas pipeline has been inaugurated in Afghanistan. But no progress has been made so far. Over 800 kilometres of the pipeline will go through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.
The Turkmen ambassador said a delegation from his country would visit Afghanistan in coming days to initiate gas and electricity projects in the 150 kilometre land acquired for the pipeline.
