KABUL (Pajhwok): Two people have been arrested in connection to incident of firing at a wedding ceremony in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Two women were killed and 10 other individuals injured on Friday afternoon when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a wedding ceremony in Shamshabour locality of Surkhrod district.
A resident of the area, wishing not to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News the attackers managed to flee the scene.
Another area inhabitant, Sultan Mahmood, said: “Last night three weddings were celebrated in Haji Zahir Khan’s family.
Assistant Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Zabihullah Mujahid on his twitter account wrote: “Three people in the Taliban disguise forced their way into a wedding ceremony asking them to stop music and then they resorted to firing.”
Two suspected individuals had been arrested in this regard and one managed to flee, he said.
Mujahid said the perpetrator who used the Taliban name to avenge their personal enmity would be handed over to judicial organs for justice.
