KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has promised to provide shelter, clothing and other essential items to the poor in Afghanistan before the cold winter approaches.
ZabihullahMujahid, deputy information and culture minister, said that, Afghan Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Antonio Vitorino, Director General of International Organization for Migration (IOM) and his delegation.
Vitorino during the meeting said their priority was to provide shelter, clothing and other necessities to the Afghan people struggling with poverty and promised to continue their work in Afghanistan as winter approaches in the country.
Acting Foreign Minister Muttaqi also thanked the United Nations for its assistance and said that the real needy should be identified and separated from the undeserving people.
Muttaqi asked the UN to intervene and help unfreeze the frozen assets of Afghanistan.
