KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of flour and Arabian gold have increased while that of sugar, liquefied gas and fuel has dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

A worker of Ahmad Yar Group fuel station in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a lite of petrol was 76 afghanis but the rate of the same quantity of diesel dropped from 75 afghanis to 79 afgahnis.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kulula Puhsta area of Kabul said that a kilogram of the commodity was decreased from 90afs to 85afs.

Zmarai Safi, head of the Kabul traders’ union, said the wholesale price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour jumped from 2,100afs to 2,140afs.

He linked the hike in flour and petroleum prices to depreciation of the afghani against the US dollar, regime change in Afghanistan and frozen assets of the country in US banks.

However, he said that the wholesale rate of a 49-kilogram sack of Indian sugar decreased frin 2,950afs to 2,850afs.

The rates of other essential items remain stable. A 16 litres tin of Malaysian cooking oil stayed stable at 2,500afs, a 24 kilograms bag of Pakistani rice at 2,400afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea at 350afs and the same quantity of African black tea at 380afs.

Hamid Sufizada, a shopkeeper in Dahni Bagh area, put the retail price of a 49 kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 2,200afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice at 2,450afs, a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar at 2950afs , a 16-litre tin of Malaysian cooking oil at 2,550afs, one kilogram of green team at 360afs and one kg of black tea at 390afs.

Mohammad Javed, a jeweler in the Lycee Marym market, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold was increased from 4,100afs to 4,200afs while the same quantity of the Russian variety accounted for 3,400afs.

Haji Hussain, a moneychanger in the Sara-e-Shahzada market, said one US dollar accounted for 90afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 500afs.

Last week, one dollar was equal to 89afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 495afs.
