SHARAN (Pajhwok): A person is building a slaughterhouse at his own cost in Sharan city, the capital of south-eastern Paktika province, an official said on Sunday.
Paktika Mayor MaulviNasirHilal told reporters that the slaughterhouse would be used for slaughtering animals in accordance with the Islamic law.
“People will slaughter their animals in a calm and clean environment and the meat would reach citizens in a proper manner,” he said.
There was no such a place for slaughtering animals in Sharan city in the past, he added.
The person, who is financing the project, Mohammad Ajmal, told Pajhwok Afghan News the facility would be built in collaboration with the municipality at a cost of 10 million afghanis.
He said the construction work would be completed in the next few months.
Rahmatullah, a butcher in Sharan city, said that there was no proper place for slaughtering animals in the city before.
“We would slaughter animals wherever we wanted, but now it’s better we have a specific place for that,” he said.
Standard places for slaughtering animals have already been set up in the capital Kabul and some other provinces.
