PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The governor of central Logar province says journalists serve as a bridge between the government and the nation and they support the media in every aspect.
Govenror Haji Mali Khan made the remarks during a meeting with journalists and media representatives.
Issues related to media activities, problems, safety of journalists, access to information and other issues came up for discussion during the meeting.
Mali Khan said the Taliban government was not opposed to the media, but the media should reflect in the public interest.
He called on journalists and media to remain committed to Islamic and national interests and to continue their work impartially.
“The provincial authorities will instruct officials to cooperate with journalists in sharing information and the security agencies are obliged to ensure the safety of the journalists,” he added.
He assured that journalists and media were a bridge between the government and the nation and they support it in every aspect.
Matiullah Sarwar, head of the Independent Journalists of Logar, said the media was committed to the country's national interest, prosperity and development and would act in accordance with the principles of journalism.
He emphasized on the importance of resolving problems of journalists and access to information and and asked the governor to support journalists and the media in these areas.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided that journalists would hold regular meetings with the governor of Logar every month to resolve their problems.
