Ex-ALP commander gunned down in Baghlan

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a former Afghan local police (ALP) commander in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Maulvi Mustafa Hashimi, director of culture and information, confirmed the incident and said that unknown armed men gunned down former the ALP commander in Pul-i-Khumri City.

He identified the victim as Taj Mohammad who he said had been killed due to personal enmity. He added no arrest had been made so far but an investigation was underway.

A friend of the slain policeman, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok that Taj Mohammad was commander of local police checkpoint in Baladori area. He was killed in an armed attack on Tuesday night.

“Taj Mohammad was offering prayer near the main road when he was shot dead by gunmen in a corolla vehicle,” he said.
