JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan met with the governor of eastern Nangarhar province and assured him support in attracting international aid to the war-torn country.

Isabelle Moussard Carlsen said she remained committed to providing humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan and would continue to do so in the future.

A statement from the Nangarhar provincial media office said Governor Maulvi Muzamil thanked the OCHA officials for their work in the province and assured them of security, efficiency and independence.

She said she would soon talk to the international community about Afghanistan's problems and seek necessary assistance in various fields.

The head of the agency's eastern zone, Takshur Mugari, provided information on the humanitarian assistance provided, the current status of the assistance and future plans, and assured that he would pay due attention to Nangarhar.
